Happy IVF day to all the parents celebrating the miracle of their children!

It’s no secret to our friends and family that Jackie and I were able to welcome Asher and Gage into our lives through the incredible work of Dr. Marrs and IVF technology in CA.

Unfortunately, there are concerning developments with Trump, VP Canidate JD Vance comments this week, Project 2025, and in states like Alabama, where laws are threatening the rights of American parents undergoing IVF. The possibility of facing manslaughter charges for the loss of embryos during the process is a chilling reality.

With a success rate of only 30%, it’s important to recognize the sacrifices and challenges that come with IVF. Jackie and I went through the heartbreaking loss of 22 out of 24 embryos before becoming parents, a situation that could have led to 22 criminal charges in Alabama.

This is just one example of why I believe it’s crucial to vote for candidates who will protect ALL our rights and freedoms in America, including the reproductive freedoms for loving families that want to be parents.

Let’s all stay informed and engaged in this upcoming election, as the future of our rights as Americans is at stake

  1. Don’t trust everything you hear in the news. Gone are the days when we could do that with relative assurance we were hearing something factual. Please watch this video on Youtube. It’s a short clip of an ABC report and it is of Trump speaking specifically about his stance on IVF, and also in his disapproval of the decision that Alabama had made (5 months ago).

With just a little research, we can find the truth in things like these. Don’t fall for the hysterics they like to pedal. They love to get us going. They know we often vote with our emotions and fears. God bless you and your beautiful boys.

      • Yes, I’ve seen that the media is trying to draw a connection from the Trump agenda to Project 2025, but they are not associated. Here is an article explaining what it is and who is behind it. If you want to know what Trump is saying he will do in his second term, just go to Agenda47.com.

Trump doesn’t want to take away reproductive freedoms, he wants to stop the slaughter of full-term pregnancies. Late-term pregnancies that are aborted for any reason the woman wants is not acceptable. It’s not to say that in emergencies, the child might need to be sacrificed for the life of the mother, but if you think about it, a true emergency for the health of the mother would necessitate a cesarean section to remove the baby quickly. Killing the baby does not help the mother to survive. This savagery needs to end.

I’m glad we are having this discussion. As I said in my first reply, we have to do our own research on these matters. People with agendas are telling us things that they think will sway our votes. It’s imperative that we get to the bottom of things before we cast that vote.

        • According to the Washington Post’s diligent fact-checking, Donald Trump has been documented as having told more than 30,000 demonstrable lies during his presidency. See https://wapo.st/4c3YhBN. That’s one of the many reasons why I don’t take him at his word.

Late-term abortions are rare. Here is what the data show, according to KFF, an independent online source of health news. In February 2024 KFF published the results of its review of the frequency of late-term abortions. It looked at “2021 CDC data, before the Dobbs decision, [and] in a post-Dobbs policy landscape. The analysis shows that abortions at or after 21 weeks are uncommon and represent 1% of all abortions in the U.S. Ninety-six percent occurred at or before 15 weeks gestation, while 3% occurred from 16 to 20 weeks gestation.”

Despite Trump’s recent attempt at distancing himself from Project 2025, there is abundant evidence of his close ties to the authoritarian’s handbook’s authors and policies. See https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/11/politics/trump-allies-project-2025/index.html

Heather Cox Richardson, a self-described “political historian who uses facts and history to put the news in context,” has peeled back the veil on the Trump and Vance’s acknowledged and unacknowledged policies and beliefs about women’s place in society. In her July 29 “Letter from an American,” Richardson writes: The Trump-Vance ticket continues to stumble. In the Washington Post today, Jennifer Rubin noted that the Republicans appear to have gone out of their way to pick a presidential ticket that would offend women. Trump is, she pointed out, “an adjudicated rapist” who bragged about sexual assault, demeans and insults women, “mused about punishing women for having an abortion,” and boasts that he was behind the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Vance wants to ban abortion in all cases, wants the federal government to stop women from traveling across state lines to obtain abortion care, says childless women don’t have a stake in the country’s future, and has implied that women should stay in abusive marriages.

The Republicans embrace the ideas of right-wing groups whose members want to roll back women’s rights; their call for a “revival of faith, family, and fertility” is a tenet of fascism. “When Harris declares ‘We’re not going back,’” Rubin notes, “the message has particular resonance among women.”
