That’s what [Senators Angus King (Independent-Maine) and Martin Heinrich (Democrat-New Mexico), who have both opposed an assault weapons ban] are trying to do by shifting the focus [in their proposed new legislation] from specific guns and toward features that can make ordinary weapons far more destructive.”
