While the U.S. Senate previously passed legislation advocated by New Mexico Senator Ben Ray Lujan to expand the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act to finally include New Mexican “downwinders,” the expansion did not make it through the negotiation process with the U.S. House and into the National Defense Authorization Act conference report that will now go to the House and Senate for passage.
