“Elephant Butte Irrigation District to start irrigation season June 1”

The irrigation season for Sierra and Doña Ana counties that will begin June 1 is expected to last about 80 days, or through almost the end of August. In addition to settling on a compromise start date, the EBID board yesterday approved an allotment of 12 inches per member.

“River runs past, but water isn’t for New Mexico”

In response to requests from El Paso and Mexico irrigation authorities for early 2024 deliveries, federal officials with the Bureau of Reclamation opened the gates at Caballo Dam in Sierra County on Saturday. El Paso County Water Improvement District No. 1 will ultimately receive enough water to allocate four acre-feet this year to its members.
