“Despite calls from groups, governor won’t call off special session”

Lujan Grisham called the session, scheduled to open July 18, after the New Mexico legislature failed to pass in its 2024 session a host of bills designed to address public safety. The governor has responded to mental health and social justice advocates’ concern about the bills’ impact on their constituencies by arguing that inaction is not an option.
