“New Mexico poised to receive more than $30 million for water infrastructure projects”

The U.S. Department of the Interior announced on Wednesday that $585 million of funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will be spent on 83 projects in 11 states, including six New Mexico projects, all on the Rio Grande. Upgrades to Elephant Butte Recreational Area will receive nearly $16 million of the federal investment in state projects.

The bill allocating $1.2 billion worth of projects to be built across the state fulfills Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s pledge to build a full-spectrum reproductive health care facility in Las Cruces. Planners say the clinic is several years away from becoming a reality.
