New Mexico Senator Crystal Diamond and Tom Brantley of Carlsbad, New Mexico, were married in a private ceremony in Marathon, Texas at the historic Gage Hotel. In the presence of family, the July 14,2023, service was officiated by Vince Torres, New Mexico Senate Republican chief of staff and executive pastor of Blaze Christian Fellowship. Brantley is a farmer and rancher in Eddy County, New Mexico, and the surrounding area. Diamond, who resides in Elephant Butte, New Mexico, was elected to the Senate in 2020, the first Republican to represent the rural borderlands district. A former resident of Truth or Consequences who now lives part-time in northern New Mexico, she spent her 42-year professional career in Cleveland, Ohio, where she worked as a newspaper reporter, magazine writer and editor, book author and publisher and publishing consultant. She is the recipient of a Cleveland Arts Prize for Literature.
