The author examined year-to-date changes of a number of financial metrics as of Election Days since 1896. Only one metric—the stock market—was significantly correlated with the incumbent party’s chance of winning.

  1. I can’t access the full article but generally the last person I would listen to is some dude I’ve never heard of who’s involved in some financial service that would love to have my business.
