Noël Hudson show opening at RioBravoFineArt

The fall 2023 arts schedule at RioBravoFineArt begins in September with “From the Freedom Series” by Noël Hudson. This show is a collection of bold, large-scale abstracts. The opening is from 6 to 9 pm Saturday, September 9 – Second Saturday Art Hop at 110 N. Broadway, Truth or Consequences, NM.

The artwork in this show by Hudson was created during an intense, transitional period for the artist. This show is a carefully curated selection of pieces that reflect a time of exceptional creativity by the artist. These pieces are striking compositions with bold and vibrant color palettes. The works are large scale, with the largest pieces measuring three feet by six feet. This show is an exceptional display of some of the finest work by this extremely talented artist.

Created in 1990 – titled “New Energy Series # 20 -Blue 3” — oil on canvas – 60 x 48 inches

Hudson has experienced many cultures through her studies and travels that have shaped her artistic career. In 1969, while pursuing a Master of Fine Art, she traveled Europe extensively to study European art and architecture. A year after obtaining her degree, she went to Japan for three years where she taught art and studied with a contemporary Japanese printmaker; during this stay in Japan, she explored numerous countries in Southeast Asia.

In 1980 she moved from southern California to Taos. She has maintained a home and studio along the Rio Grande corridor in Taos, Albuquerque, and, currently, Santa Fe with a creative focus on painting, printmaking, and collage. The rich history and culture of New Mexico and its vast open spaces and beauty in many forms have been powerful sources of inspiration for Hudson and her art.

Created in 1991 – titled “New Freedom Series # 13 – Mountains Call” — oil on canvas – 36 x 36 inches

Hudson has been a strong promoter of arts in New Mexico. She serves on the Capitol Art Committee, which is responsible for the collection of art in the New Mexico State Capitol Building. Her art is in this important collection.

This show runs through October 29, 2023
