“No bills for southern New Mexico Black Fire victims yet”

New Mexico Senator Crystal Diamond (R-Elephant Butte), who represents Sierra and Hildalgo Counties, says that if Black Fire recovery monies aren’t simply allocated in this year’s budget, she will sponsor a bill to put aside that money, to be taken from the state’s $3.6 billion budget surplus. Senator Siah Correa Hemphill (D-Silver City), who represents Grant and Catron Counties, is sponsoring legislation that could help fast-track repairs in any rural communities after disasters.
