Because of bureaucratic snafus, New Mexico has only last month approved fire-damage repair projects for Sierra and Grant Counties with $2 million in funding that expires in June 2024. Now local officials are contending with an unnecessarily short deadline, seasonal weather change and the requirement to front the repair monies.
