The current rental increases throughout New Mexico, especially in our larger cities (rent has increased close to 40% in the last 2 years) where the homeless population is endemic, disproportionately effect the nearly one fifth of New Mexicans that live at or below the poverty level. In other words, the value we place on profit seeking over the well being of our most vulnerable is f…….d up!
