“Lobo Asha’s capture centers divide in wildlife management”

A U.S. District Court in Arizona could determine the terms of the release of the wandering female Mexican gray wolf nicknamed Asha, currently captive at a New Mexico sanctuary with two males in the hope she will mate. The court has been asked to rule whether the federal wolf management system complies with the National Environmental Policy Act or the Endangered Species Act, which the complainants argue give priority to species’ recovery in natural habitat as well as population growth.
