“New law gives state officials more oversight on hospital acquisitions”

The Health Care Consolidation Oversight Act, which is in effect only until July 1, 2025, while a more comprehensive bill is being written, requires New Mexico hospitals seeking to merge to give notice to the state superintendent of insurance. Merger partners also have to show that the transaction won’t lead to disadvantageous outcomes for patients.
