Federal officials said Tuesday they will ease water cuts for Western states reliant on the Colorado River in 2024, thanks to a slightly improved outlook, but long-term challenges remain.

“New Mexico Congressional Redistricting Lawsuit Moves Forward”

On Tuesday the New Mexico Republican Party and the League of Women Voters of New Mexico, among other watchdog groups, filed a brief in a lawsuit against the Secretary of State and other high-ranking officials that charges that the congressional maps in the state were redrawn to favor Democrats. The League has no opinion on the merits of the complaint but does support the role of the courts in ruling on partisan gerrymandering and so joined in presenting a brief that analyzes the maps in detail.
