Two Upcoming Sierra County Arts Council Events

The Sierra County Arts Council SCAC) is sponsoring two major events the first weekend in April. On Friday April 4th there will be a performance of classical music at 405 Gallery on Main Street in Truth or Consequences. A string quartet from Camarata del Sol will perform Haydn’s Op 77 No 1, Quaretto Eos. The music starts at 7 pm and will be followed by refreshments and a chance to speak with the performers. The program is $15 at the door — $10 for SCAC members.

Also opening that weekend is the second annual Art Show and Sale at Turtleback Mountain Golf and Resort (TBGR) in Elephant Butte. SCAC is working in partnership with TBGR to produce and host this event. This show opens at 5 pm on Friday April 4 at the Clubhouse at Sierra del Rio Golf Course where the dining area at TBGR is transformed into an art gallery.

More than 50 of the finest artists in Sierra County will be featured in this 3-day show and sale. The show will be open to the public all day Saturday and Sunday April 5th and 6th. The works represent pieces from all of the galleries in downtown TorC plus a selection of independent SCAC-member artists from throughout Sierra County. The show displays a whole range of mediums from oil and watercolor paintings to fiber arts, wall art, and sculpture. Purchases can be made directly with the artists and no commissions or fees will be taken by either Turtleback Mountain Resort and Golf or Sierra County Arts Council. All proceeds from sales go directly to the artists. This event is free and open to the public.
