Upcoming Art Show & Sale

Turtleback Mountain Resort in Elephant Butte in partnership with the Sierra County Arts Council (SCAC) will be hosting an impressive show of artwork by 50 different local artists. Sierra County is blessed with an incredible number of talented artists and this show and sale is sure to underscore that claim.

La iglesia de Arroyo Hondo” is an offset lithograph by RioBravoFineArts Gallery artist H Joe Waldrum.

More than fifteen local galleries and a number of independent artists will display their work at the Sierra del Rio golf course restaurant at Turtleback Mountain Resort. The resort’s dining area walls will be dedicated to the show comprised of 50 pieces of art by 50 different local artists including many whose art is recognized and acclaimed well beyond our borders.

This is a show and sale. Turtleback Mountain Resort has donated the space for this show free of charge to the artists and galleries. In partnership with the Resort the SCAC has worked with its members to create this event. Neither the resort nor the SCAC will be charging any fees nor taking any commissions — so all money from sales go directly and solely to the artists or galleries.

One of several pieces representing The Center Gallery Fine Art is “She’s Turning Blue” — a posta on canvas by Chantal Elena Mitchell

If you have never been to the galleries in TorC, this is a great opportunity to catch a sampling of what they offer. If you’ve never been to the Resort, this is your chance to see and enjoy the facility and sample the menu at the restaurant. Periodically during the show some of the artists or gallery representatives will be on hand to answer your queries about their work.

Wild Hearts” — an oil painting by independent artist and local muralist Bryan Steward will be in the show.

Although the show will occupy the dining rooms, dining will still be available including ample seating on the outdoor balcony deck with its panoramic views of Turtleback Mountain. And the restaurant’s typical Sunday morning breakfast buffet will still be served. How often do you get an art show that offers a buffet!

The art show and sale runs three days – Friday June 21st from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday June 22nd and 23rd from 11 a.m. to 8 pm.

A 30 x 30-inch quilted wall hanging by Rebecca Speakes titled “Chopsticks” is one of the pieces on display from RioBravoFineArts Gallery.

This show includes artwork from nearly all of the galleries in Sierra County plus a number of independent SCAC-member artists. Works include oil, watercolor, and acrylic paintings, fiber art, photography, and dimensional art.  You’ll find a broad range of subjects, sizes and prices.
