“Op-Ed: Fund Strategic Water Reserve For New Mexico”

In order to secure New Mexico’s water future, the state legislature must make a substantial investment of funding the Strategic Water Reserve, established in 2005 to buy, lease, and hold water rights in our rivers. The timing is perfect, as New Mexico is currently benefiting from record revenue surpluses estimated at $3.6 billion next year. An investment of $25 million, less than 1 percent of this surplus, would give the Reserve the financial resources it needs to work well for years to come.

“Shootings Reported at Homes and Offices of 5 New Mexico Democrats”

No one was injured in the shootings, which occurred in Albuquerque between December 4 and last Thursday. The authorities are investigating whether they were related and politically motivated.
