“Feral cattle in Gila likely spared aerial gunning in 2024”

Court hearings have been pushed back to February in the federal management lawsuit brought by the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and others seeking a permanent injunction against the U.S. Forest Service’s practice of shooting feral cattle in the Gila Wilderness from the air. Culling proponents argue that the unbranded cattle pose a threat to recreationalists and the environment.
