The federal government has been granted an extension to October 6 to push back against the decade-in-the-making settlement proposed by New Mexico and Texas over allocations of Rio Grande water released from Elephant Butte Lake Reservoir. Then other parties have a chance to reply in December, with one final round of arguments in January.

“Senators float idea NM should take financial control of Spaceport”

At least three New Mexico Senators went on the record at a presentation on the economic impact of Spaceport America at an interim New Mexico Finance Authority Oversight Committee meeting earlier this month to argue that the state should bear all reponsibility for the future development of the facility, stating that its funding by the taxpayers of Doña Ana and Sierra Counties has been an unfair burden.
