If you’ve never shot carp in a tight, shallow inlet in a lake, you should try it. It’s great fun. The shot fish will leap into the air and onto the bank, while its mates in the water frantically churn the mud in a frenzy. It seems that is what happens at and near and on the way to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) centers, which are all located in Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) designated fire zones.
We’ve heard accusations that the GHF acts as bait to attract people to dangerous locations where they become targets, but these were accusations based just on shooting events. Six days ago, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz published an exposé on IDF soldiers who say they were ordered to shoot unthreatening civilians indiscriminately. Yesterday, Associated Press, following its own leads, revealed that Americans have joined in the fun. Contracted gunmen hired by GHF to protect their distribution sites shoot people who come to GHF for food. Although GHF is often described in our media as “Israeli/American,” it is an American company doing an American operation. It is registered in New Jersey. It has an American director. It is supported by State Department funding (that used to go to USAID before Our President (OP) destroyed USAID). In fact, we should view GHF (and its partner/contractor Safe Reach Solutions, incorporated at about the same time as GHF) as an example of OP’s policy of bringing business back home. Ridding us of USAID (which besides giving medical supplies, food, and aid to millions of people, buying good will, supporting American farmers, pharmaceuticals, and health professionals by expending its enormous “wasted” funds buying American, and also providing CIA a conduit for its operations), OP has created in its place a private, business version in GHF. GHF now combines the business of charity with the fun of shooting fish in a barrel. The next step in bringing business back home would be to charge the shooters instead of paying them from the tax-kitty. “Hell, yeah!” A win-win situation for America.

But shooting unarmed, starving people with rifles and machine guns is not really any different from the rest of this “war.” If you are an F-15 pilot, you are hardly threatened by any one on the ground in Gaza.
