“Where’s Asha? An endangered Mexican gray wolf strays from the recovery area again”

Asha, a Mexican gray wolf officially known as wolf 2754, has wandered outside the designated recovery area south of I-40 in New Mexico for a second time, months after she was returned to the federally designated range. Asha’s adventures north are unprecedented; no other Mexican wolf had traveled that far since the species was reintroduced in 1998, and advocates hope that U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will allow her to continue to roam for the knowledge that will be gained.
