“Made in the USA,” that is “great,” again.

You may have heard that our President’s family has gotten into the cellphone business with a gold phone that is “made in the USA.” Geez, he’s really bringing manufacturing back to the USA. But is the phone made in the USA? There seems some doubt: https://www.wired.com/story/the-trump-phone-is-already-a-lot-different-from-last-week/?utm_source=nl&utm_brand=wired&utm_mailing=WIR_Daily_062725&utm_campaign=aud-dev&utm_medium=email&utm_content=WIR_Daily_062725&bxid=67e03a9a24c70c4d5303bd44&cndid=88048979&hasha=ab1dfd390962e917aa20dd8fcb264c7f&hashc=0d95d96ea5fb049bddd3116c12f7ce2ad8812f4a3c471afbdd455b0639d09c53&esrc=VERSO_NAVIGATION&utm_term=WIR_Daily_Active.

It seems that the gold phone will be only “potentially” made in the USA. That perspective reminds us that during our President’s defense in the civil fraud trial he lost, his experts on property valuation argued that as a visionary and genius, our President saw the value of property in terms of its potential, “as if” value when fully developed, and therefore, he did not cheat the banks when he way overvalued his property by 10 or 20 times in order to get a loan. The judge in that case, someone our President said should be arrested, rejected the argument and said that when you apply for a loan and state the value of your assets, you use “current” valuation, just as the rest of us who are not visionary geniuses do.

I’m reminded also of our President’s fellow traveler, Elon Musk, and his chainsaw. I wrote an analysis of that chainsaw in which I suggested it was a jazzed-up version of an inexpensive, mass-produced saw made in China which shows the whole idea of bringing industry back to the US by this administration to be a hype. See https://sierracountycitizen.org/the-elon-musk-chainsaw/#comments. If you go back to my old article, scroll on down to the Comments. You will find there a response to my article by the saw’s Argentinian maker, Tute di Tela, who says that my article is the stupidest thing’s he’s ever read since the chainsaw was a symbol and has nothing to do with what it is or who brandishes it.

But if “made in the USA” isn’t made in the USA, what’s the show all about?

[Tute, by the way, took down the images of the Musk saw on his site, so my article which used those images to demonstrate my point is now incomplete. But be assured that your local rag is read internationally.]
