“Downwind” movie screening

On Thursday February 20th movie producer and director Mark Shapiro will be in Truth or Consequences to offer a screening of his movie “Downwind.” The screening will take place at the El Cortez theater on Main Street in TorC and begins at 7 pm.
Although the movie — which has some big-time names associated with it such as Michael Douglas, Lewis Black and Martin Sheen — is an Oscar-eligible documentary, this film has a personal aspect in that Mr. Shapiro has funded the entire production himself. After the movie you will be invited to participate in a Q&A  with him. He is in New Mexico as part of the Santa Fe Film Festival and we are fortunate to have him make this stop to share his film and insight.
The film addresses the toxic consequences of the 928 nuclear detonations that have taken place on U. S. soil.  Whether you share the concerns of nuclear detonation and its after-effects, or want to learn more about his one-man film-making process and hear how he managed to involve Hollywood names in the production, this would be a great opportunity.
