On Wednesday evening the Sierra County Arts Council convened with a revised board of directors and added a few new members. Outgoing President Cary “Jagger” Gustin turned the gavel over to incoming President John Johanek. Additionally three new members joined the board: Shennoah Bree, Allyson Hayes and Jesse Thorpe.

With a large menu of projects on the agenda the new board looks to engage in a number of events and programs while continuing to serve the art community of Sierra County.
First up on the calendar is the upcoming Annual Membership Party which takes place on Saturday February 1st at Grapes Gallery, 407/409 Main Street in downtown Truth or Consequences. The party starts at 6 p.m. This is the perfect time to come and renew your existing membership or join as a new member. There will be live music by The RGEE Duo (trio), catering by Destiny Mitchell and a wonderful opportunity to meet new friends or mingle with old ones.
The Membership Party will take a brief break midway to introduce the new board, acknowledge the service of the outgoing president, and review accomplishments of the past year as well as preview upcoming projects and plans.
The party is open to the public — members are free, non-members can pay a small fee at the door. If you are new to the area and looking to meet locals and make friends, this is a great place to start.
The Sierra County Arts Council’s mission is to support artistic and cultural diversity through community partnerships and to provide educational artistic and cultural opportunities to all Sierra County residents. If you would like to become a part of this vibrant group you should attend the Membership Party on February 1st. The organization is open to all ages.
